Maughan Reunion 2019

Our Maughan Reunion was only a few days after school got out. This year we went to Duck Creek....which I had never heard of before. So we packed up a few Michael Vey audiobooks and headed south.

First, we stopped at the Beaver cheese factory which is WAY nicer than it used to be. We hadn't seen the new building yet. As long as we can still get squeaky cheese....

As we kept driving, it kept getting snowier. So we had to stop and play in the snow for a while too.
Then we made a stop at Cedar breaks. They had to carve a path through the snow to get to the lookout! But it was gorgeous with all the red rock and snow.

We asked Rach to take a picture of us....and she did, but then when we checked the pictures later....that's not the only thing she took a picture of!
 Busted!

We made it to the giant cabin in Duck Creek (where supposedly Daniel Boone was filmed?)

The next morning, a few of us headed up to Panguitch lake for some fishing!

 The fishing was HOT!!!

 This is how Will fishes....

Then Rach made her own pole.

Trav couldn't even keep all the poles in the water because every time he'd get them all out someone would catch a fish. He'd take care of that fish and by the time he was done another fish would be on another pole! It was amazing! And so much fun!

Poor Terry and Alan weren't having any luck so Terry moved closer. Ha ha!
Then the Jones' and Alan's boys came. They also didn't have as much luck as my little family.

Kate ended up catching 4. Trav 4. Rach 3 and Josh (I think) 1. It was so much fun to watch!

That night we came home and the kids played a make-shift game of baseball in the backyard. It was wet, muddy, they used a short stick as the bat...but had a blast. The game lasted over 3 hours and by the end everyone was out watching this epic game. It was Rach, Josh, Kate and Will vs. Luke and Zach(who got injured so Marcus took his place).

I'm just sad that I didn't take more pictures! The final score was 45-43 for the big kids. But they were all covered in mud by the end!

The next day we went to a cave (and now I can't remember the name of it) We were the first ones there so we explored a bit before everyone else came.

There were 3 different caves to explore. They were all really cool but I about died when I heard a squeak, looked up, and directly above my head was a big ball of sleeping bats! I have now discovered a new phobia of mine (and Jonah's)

I tired to get a few pictures of our "suite." We stayed in this cool double room but the pictures don't look that great.

Will opted to sleep in a closet/cubby thing. It was perfect. Although when we were cleaning up I found a LOT of stashed away candy wrappers.
Rach and Jonah shared a bed
Josh was on the floor with his new awesome sleeping pad

Kate slept on a pull out bed.

Luke had a drone that took our family photo this year. Pretty cool shot!
We also went to the "biggest natural spring in the U.S." (maybe...don't quote me on that. It might just be Utah but I think it's more than that)

It was huge! And cold!

After the cave we tried our hand at fishing again at a closer lake to the cabin. It was really windy and the fish were not biting at all!

But it was still really pretty!
We even got to take an ATV ride in the mud. So fun! There were so many trails all over you could drive on.

Kate's our little early bird so we'd take walks up to the lake every morning before anyone else was even awake.
The last early morning hike we found a really fun swing!
 And a toad.
Here's one last look at our cool cabin.
 With tons of seating...

Then we knew we had to hike everyone else back up to the swing to try it out before the long drive home. It was a hit!

At first Jonah had no interest in trying it.
I kind of love the shadows.

 Here we go...

He loved it and the rest of us had a hard time getting a turn after he decided this.

Here's the pretty little valley we called home for a few days. Across the meadow there was the cutest church that had church bells and would play a song every hour. I would definitely go back to Duck Creek again.
