Spring Break 2019

This year spring break was one to remember. Something we have never done before! We decided to rent an RV and head to Kodachrome basin (which is somewhere in the middle of nowhere, Utah)

After loading up the RV and getting a later start than planned we were on our way...only to realize a few miles later we had forgotten a lot of stuff. Like...a lot. We've never forgotten so much stuff on a trip before! I had lots of food, we had a stove in the RV and even had running water but we forgot things to cook in...like our skillet, a spatula, tongs, a spoon to scoop stuff out of the dutch ovens, paper towels, dish soap...anything to do with cooking or cleaning. So instead of turning around we stopped at Ikea for lunch and stocked up on all our supplies.

We finally made it there and it was quickly getting dark.  The amazing thing was we immediately started cooking dinner and didn't have to set anything up (but the easy up) or unpack! It started raining and rained all night and it was so awesome that I wasn't even worried. In a tent we probably would've woken up in a puddle but the RV was SO nice to have! The heater at night didn't hurt either!

So now here's some pictures of this awesome trip. They aren't necessarily in order but here ya go!
Our cute campsite...
We had so much space to bring things that we brought all of our bikes.
We gotta get Will off his training wheels. He was totally stuck right here and his wheels were just spinning.

The kids loved sleeping in the RV. Josh, Kate and Will were on the top bunk.
The day before we left Trav gave me an early birthday present....a new bike! He wanted me to be able to ride (since Rach took over my bike) but we couldn't let my fancy new bike get all dirty on the bike rack.So it rode in the prime position inside the RV....on the big bed.
We woke up to a foggy morning and Trav got some cool shots.
After breakfast we roamed around our campsite and found a cool slot canyon.

Cooking breakfast in the RV. It really was handy...

I love the awkwardly leaning in pose when they don't realize it's a wide shot.

Then it was time for a hike!

It was so pretty and so NOT crowded! The campsite was full (but there's only like 6 spots in the one we stayed at) but there was hardly anyone on the hikes with us. It made it all even better!

This part was totally sketchy. It was a drop off on either side. I was freaking out and my kids crossed over like it was no big deal.

We could see our cute RV in the parking lot...

If Jonah finds a pole...he's running around it.

Some parts looked a lot like goblin valley but you weren't supposed to climb on the rocks which was a bummer.
Back at our campsite these boys played in the dirt for hours.

Home sweet home!
That night for dinner we were planning on roasting hot dogs. I brought buns, ketchup, mustard, relish...but totally forgot the hot dogs! Seriously...what was I thinking?!? But luckily we had a ton of food so we just had sandwiches instead.
The next morning we went to do some more hikes. Will found a comfy rock chair.

We found an arch!

Can you see the face?

Hey kids...how do you like the RV?
This is where the pictures got out of order because it's the start of my phone pictures.

Eating dinner out of the rain our first night...

The slot canyon.

Dirty cheeks...

Trav took the big kids on a bike ride so me and the little boys went on a hike.

Will's smile...Ha ha!

Trav and Josh went on an even longer bike ride so the rest of us hung out in the RV listening to Will's scary stories about  Satan's bacon army that got eaten...or something like that. It went on for quite a while...
Here's our emergency sandwich meal.
Our second night there we went on a family bike ride to Chimney rock which was a little over a mile away. Will and Jonah got in the trailer.

It was such a gorgeous evening and we were the ONLY ones there! I know I keep saying that but it was so amazing to have this gorgeous place to ourselves. I felt so lucky to be there with my favorite people in the world.

It was the first long ride on my new bike. I LOVE it. It still needs a name but I really do love the bike.

Jonah and Rach slept on the kitchen table bed and he loves to just read books in bed.

You can see Jonah's skid marks of scooting down the hill.

The kids sat at the table playing games, playing with toys, and just having fun on the whole ride there and back. We'd let them take turns of laying on the bunk bed while we drove and they thought that was pretty cool. RV's are not conducive to car seats, by the way.
We really had such a fun trip. Despite us forgetting so many things and it being a short trip we made so many fun memories and I loved trying it out in an RV! So fun!!
