Hello Kitty!

It's true.  The day that I thought would never ever, I mean, never happen....happened.  We got a cat!  First of all, I've never really liked cats too much...the way they slink across your legs, the way they make you sneeze.  I don't know.  Just....blah!  But when my neighbors cat had kitties and my kids completely fell in love with them I took another look.  All the sudden kitties look cute to me!  They play, they purr, they cuddle, they don't make me sneeze as bad as they used to.  And one of the lowest maintenance pets you can get.  Now that's what  I'm talking about!

Rach and Josh both filled up their warm fuzzy jars and Josh was contemplating getting fish again. Ummm, sorry.  Not going there again until I have written in blood that I am not going to be the one to feed the things or clean that disgusting tank.  Nope.  No can do.  We've played that game before. I said in passing, "I'd rather get a cat then fish again."

"What? Did she say we could get a cat?  Let's go play with the kitties and pick one out right now!"

That's pretty much exactly how the conversation happened.  Well, a couple weeks later we brought this bad boy home.

Awwww....I know!  So cute!  How could I have dreaded getting him?  This was the kids the first day....

It was love at first sight. He came with the name Tiger but we changed it to Strider.  We went through a few names the first few days so he's still confused, but I think Strider has finally stuck.

And the person in our family that loves him the most?  William. They are two peas in a pod. I think they're at about the same developmental level because they are SO much alike.  It is hilarious to watch them.

 Let's climb up the step...

Now let's teeter on the side of the step...

Go down the step?  Yes,  thank you. I think I will!

And who says it's a kitty toy? Looks fun to me!

Once in a while another kid will get some snuggle time..

He is not a morning person...

And here they are at it again. This time with a balloon...

They both were having the best time.
And together again, but this time locked out when daddy is re-tiling the front entry.
So last Saturday we decided to go to Antelope Island.  It was kind of a last minute decision but I'm so glad we went.  We had a great time.

William only had fun when he was in the water.

He got ticked if you put him in the sand.
So, pants came off and back in the water he goes.

We had lots of practice skipping rocks.

And gathering rocks for her rock collection...
 Still ticked in the sand...

 A game of Frisbee...

And the most gorgeous sunset I've seen in a long time.

 We spotted some buffalo.

Then the other day on Memorial day we pulled out our make-shift slip n slide. First time of the year!

Will even gave it a shot.

But he preferred the sprinkler to the slipping.

And here's one last one for the road...afternoon reading with Strider.  Life is good!  Watch out summer, here we come!  We're ready for you!
