Catching up

Okay, so since I haven't updated my blog in like 2 months (I know, I'm awful) here is an update on what's been happening in the Kaysville area............

Here's our sweet Kate who isn't so small anymore.  I was trying to get a close-up of her cute teeth.

She sure loves her brother, and he adores her.

Wow, you can see way up that nose.

At Trav's work they had a white elephant gift exchange.  Trav came home with a life-size batman!  It is so cool and definitely the most popular member of our family right now.  They keep fighting over who get's to marry him.  Speaking of marrying, last week Josh said, "Mom I want to marry you, you are so beautiful!"  Now I don't know if he was serious or not, but let's just say Santa is going to be VERY nice to Josh this year.

We do have a Christmas tree up.  Kate thought it was fun to help decorate for her first Christmas.

And why do little kids always think they can fit through the tinist little cracks?  Kate is notorious for squeezing through places that seem humanly impossible.

I don't think there's a comment for this one.....let's just keep moving along.

Well, you know what happens when you pull the stockings out and you happen to have 2 feet don't you?

 All kinds of trouble.

Then of course we made it to temple square last week for the annual light trip.  This year has been unusually warm so it was a really plesant night.

Kate still has a pink nose so I think it was a little cold.

To go see the lights we decided to ride the frontrunner train and forgo trying to park in downtown Salt Lake.  We had never ridden it before and can I say it was awesome!  The stop is like 5 minutes from our house so we rode the train in, no hassle and didn't have to worry about traffic.  You would think we were going on a rocket ship to the moon with how excited the kids were.  It was a blast!

Now most of you may not no this but when I was either 5 or 6 years old, on Christmas morning I was given a special mug full of eggnog.  This is by far the coolest mug in the world.

As I was drinking the eggnog I looked in my glass and found a treasure inside!

Two little eyes were peeking up at me.  I thought it was the coolest thing and every year since then I have to drink eggnog out of my special mug.  You may think I'm mean, but I won't even let my kids drink out of it.  But I would love to find a mug for them since they are not allowed to use mine.  Has anyone ever seen something like this to buy?

Well, I know you must be wiping tears of joy from your eyes now that you know I will be updating more often.  I know I am.  Have a very Merry Christmas and be sure on Christmas morning I'll be drinking out of the mug and the kids will be begging to see the bear.  Sorry kids, no dice.

A historical day

Today is one of those days that is going to go down in history. I know you're thinking...."what could it possibly be? What is so special about today? It's not Christmas yet!" Well friends, today I am blogging from home. I know I know. I'll give you a minute to pick yourselves off the floor. As of about 20 minutes ago the Maughan household is on-line. After nearly 9 years of blissful marriage and trying to avoid being tech-saavy, we finally got the internet for the first time. Watch out cyber-world here we come! So you'll probably all be thrilled to hear my blog will most likely be update more than once every 2 months. Woot woot!

Halloween Happenings

Alright folks here it is! Our Halloween post. But to start you off here's a couple pictures of my cute little girls before chuch last week.
Awwww cute....all little girls need a red velvet dress, right?

And I know this is sad but true, but we sold the monster t.v. It no longer consumes our entire kitchen. I didn't think we'd be able to sell it but we got $35 from it. Score! So we made our first real t.v. purchase. So far so good. goodbye monster we really won't miss you.....

On Halloween night we had a party at my parents house with my sister and her family. We played some games including the imfamous "put an oreo on your forhead and try to get it in your mouth only using your face muscles" game. (I think that's the technical name) It was great.

And here's some cute pictures of the costumes. We had a polar bear...

A duck and a duck hunter.....

A close up of the duck......

And superman!

Yes that is Josh with the black hair. Kate is wondering who the heck that dark-haired kid is.

Kate didn't get to go trick-or-treating but she did like the candy.

Here's a note Rachel left for the trick-or-treaters, at least before the rain washed it away.

We carved our pumpkins on Saturday morning. The kids got to draw the faces then we carved them. I love the crooked faces. Here's Rachel's scary face.

Here's Josh's scary face.

And here's Trav's scary face. All the pumpkins in all their glory.
And another one of Superman flying......Yeah, notice all the leaves? If anyone needs any leaves for any reason by all means come on over!

We also went to Gardner Village to see all the witches.

Unfortunately we went on the day it snowed so Rachel's favorite part was the snowball fight. Halloween was great but we have WAY too much candy. Don't worry, I'm sure we can take care of that.
Trav actually did go hunting yesterday with the bishopric and shot a phesant. We ate it last night for dinner. He's really not into hunting so this is the freshest meat I've ever had. It was good! I'm glad he didn't shoot the duck.

Fallin' in

I love fall. I think it's my favorite time of year. I love the smell, the leaves, the apples from my mom and dad's tree, all of it. We were so lucky to go up to my parents cabin this weekend and enjoy the fallish splendor. Jumping on the neighbors tramp was by far the favorite part of my kids. They like the horsie rides from dad. Don't mind the glamour shots hair and make-up in this one. Josh was (is) so sick. This was one of those times where he wasn't in the bathroom. The ride home was quite interesting....Rach was having a drama moment and Josh was sitting there with his face in a bowl....just in case. I'm just glad we pulled off the road into the trees before he started throwing up.
We told Rach it was her job to sweep all the leaves off the deck, which is actually a full-time job. You can't really tell in this picture but it was literally snowing leaves all over the deck. She was getting so mad because she was not making any progress at all. That should keep her busy for a while.
So it's true, I started playing soccer again. Yes, I was so excited and remembered that I was good in the "glory days" but didn't think I'd be THAT bad after not playing for 10 years. Isn't it just like a bike? Apparently not. I haven't played where I haven't almost died yet. Thank goodness the seasons almost over. Yes this picture is pre-game so I'm still smiling.
A few weeks ago we went to Trav's sisters house for dinner, a horse ride and a swim in the hot tub. Notice the boots and the hat? Josh is totally in his element and it was so fun.

Unfortunately Rachel's soccer season is over. The Ladybugs did awesome! Before every game (and between every quarter, and at half-time, and after the game) the team would get into a massive game of ring around the rosy. The other teams would be practicing soccer skills and this is what our team would be doing.........

And here's another one of Kate the pirate queen again. But here's some good news.....she doen't need the patch anymore! After another awesome check-up at Primary's she doen't need the patch anymore and her medicine dosage is cut in half. Dr. Dries couldn't stop ranting and raving at how good she is doing and her vision should be perfect! Thank goodness for modern medicine!

And I couldn't resist this one of my little chub. She is the cutest (and chubbiest) baby ever. Look at those legs. She is officially crawling and is into so much trouble all of the time.

We went to Wheeler Farm this past week (which fall is the best time to go by the way). Rach couldn't stop posing for pictures.

But the good part was, they had a cage to put the kids in. Too bad we can't bring it home.

And with all of our kids we've taken pictures of them in these little boxes that we have. Can you tell who is who? Exhibit A Exhibit B

Exhibit C

Answer:
Exhibit A-- Kate
Exhibit B-- Josh
Exhibit C-- Rachel
I think they look related, don't you?
