2 weeks and surviving

Well, Kate is officially 2 weeks old. Despite the fact that she thinks she needs to eat or be held 24 hours a day, we are surviving. I'm so lucky that Rach and Josh play so well together. They are just in their own little world most of the time and don't require me to entertain them hardly at all. Kate just loves to be held and is so sad when I put her down. I do have to shower once in a while....but she hasn't figured that out yet.

When we brought Kate home from the hospital we wanted to do something fun for Rach and Josh. So we put up a tent that grandma and grandpa had given them for Christmas and let them sleep in it like they were camping. Well, after 2 nights in the tent Josh said "Rachel's buggin me, I want my bed" So he's back in bed, but Rach is still in the tent and shows no sign of wanting to sleep in a bed again. Actually, yesterday she told me to give her bed away because she doesn't need it anymore. I don't think we'll go to that extreme yet, but I wonder how long this phase will last?

For those of you that were slackers and didn't go see the hospital pictures, this is the one that we bought. We only got one, even though we loved them all, but we do want to save for her college education too. Isn't that the cutest face?

Here's my little helper. I don't know....that look on his face? What is he up to?

Rach keeps putting her face right by Kate's and wanting me to take a picture. I think Kate actually looks a lot like Rach did when she was brand new. But I thought this was cute of my girls.

Yes, Rachel is officially a giant now. How does that happen when you bring a new baby home?

They were getting ready to leave for church on Sunday, and when you get these kids dressed up they start dancing, twirling, "getting married" (don't panic, that's just when they dance, but they do kiss once in a while too) It's cute now, but good blackmail pictures for when they're older too.

We have so many pictures of Josh eating something and it getting all over his face. I just had to throw this one in. He's an official chocolate addict. I wonder who he gets that from?

Kate definitely has dimples (of course) and I was trying so hard to get a picture of them, but it never works like you want it too. But she was wide awake and I thought they turned out cute. You can kind of see her fuzzy hair.

This is the outfit she wore on Valentine's day. Awwwww....cute! Yes the pants are too big, but everything is when you're only 6 lbs.

Well, I know I go a little nuts with tons of pictures, but I know my sisters at least appreciate them. Go team USA! I love the Olympics.

One crazy week

I know you've all been dying to see our little cutie. I'll try to be good at posting but you don't leave the house much with a new kiddo. We've survived a whole week with 3 kids. Kate is absolutely wonderful. She's so calm and sweet. So bear with me because I have a million pictures. I'm not proud or anything.......okay, I am!

So here's me and Kate in the hospital. I know, watch out glamour shots, here I come!

Okay, so I'm having some issues right now so these are totally out of order, but just bear with me. You'll get to see them in all their glory. For Valentine's day I gave Trav a picture of all our kiddo's tootsies. Kate was only 4 days old when I took this picture. It's funny how all the sudden Josh is this big kid with big feet when last week he was my baby. How does that happen?

Hey Josh! What do you think of the new baby?

Hey Josh! What do you think of eating some broccoli?

We have this gigantic bathtub in our master bath. The kids love taking baths in it. It's like a swimming pool. I like the whole-- shower comes down and we can squirt them--thing.

We didn't know how to paint the nursery since we didn't know if it was a boy or a girl. But I think it turned out way cute. We're still going to put a chair rail around the room, but here it is so far.

Okay, now we're to the stuff you all want to see. Here's Kate with some balloons grandma gave us.

Yes, there are technically 3 princesses in the house now. The troublemaker princess is missing in this picture though.

Here's a cute, proud new daddy.

Here's Kate's going home outfit from the hospital.

Hey Kate, how do you like your going home outfit?

Proud mommy and daddy.

This picture just captures it all. Brother and sister as proud as punch. But notice the cowboy boots and candy bar. Sisters are great, but we still have our priorities.

Wrapped up like a burrito. Only a week old and she already loves that binky.

Josh really is obsessed with her. Every time he sees her he puts his face right next to hers and says "Hi Sweetheart!" What a cute big brother.

Well, she's a keeper! We just adore her and are so happy she's here. I can't believe it's only been a week! How does your heart just grow in size when you add a new kid to your family?

It's a Girl!!!

Kate Emily Maughan made a very fast arrival on Saturday, February 6th at 12:40 am. Being in the hospital for only 15 minutes before her grand appearance I wasn't able to have an epidural (can I say Ouch?). Apparently the nurses didn't think I was THAT close when they asked me for a urine sample. Do you want the baby to end up in the little paper cup? Everything went great despite tears from both mom and baby. She's perfect, beautiful and such a sweetheart. She weighed 6 lbs 13 oz, 19 inches long. Big brother and sister are so excited to have her but are still a little confused about the whole "she was in mommy's tummy, now she's here" concept.

We don't have pictures to post yet, but the hospital took some gorgeous pictures that you can look at for the next 2 weeks. Just go to bellababyphotography.com, view pictures, and the password is 0206katemaughan. She is such a sweetie and we are so happy she's here, and came in the hospital and not on the road, even though it was close. Happy birthday Kate! We love you!
