Birthdays and Blessings

Okay, we've had a very fun and busy couple of weeks. It started out with doing lots of yard work. Trav cut out tons of trees and so we decided to build a fire to burn some of the sticks. Of course if you have a fire in your backyard you have to have a dinner of hotdogs and s'mores too. Apparently the kids thought the fire was too hot because they requested sticks that were like 4 feet long. Daddy ended up cooking all the hot dogs anyway, but I thought it was cute. If anyone ever has a hankering (is that really how you spell it?) for a bonfire, let me know. We have lots of stumps that we need to burn so we'll be having lots of them this summer.

This is a typical morning at our house. I'll come out of our room and Josh will be sitting in the sun doing puzzles. He loves puzzles, and I love that he loves puzzles.

While one is puzzling the other is on her way to fame. A movie star in the making.

Here's our cute little Kate. Can you believe that this shirt was mine when I was little? That's an old shirt!

This is one of Kate in her little Sunday dress today. I have the hardest time getting really cute pictures of her. She is so stinkin' cute but she's always looking away and the clothes are always bunched up wierd. O-well we'll take what we can get.

This is my little family totem pole. Awwww cute!

We blessed our cute little Kate on April 11th. Again, didn't get a spectacular picture of her, but she looked so beautiful in her little dress. (okay the dress isn't so little, it's like 3 times her size in length) What a cutie.

And here we go....... I am officially in my late 20's! That is so scary. I had my birthday and turned the ripe old age of 28! I had a great birthday though. Instead of a birthday cake this year Trav got me a dozen doughnuts from Krispie Cream. Oh my goodness they were good. (I use that in the past tense because they were gone within 2 days....yeah, you can do the math on that one....no I didn't eat them all by myself)

I went back to work yesterday for the first time since Kate was born. It was so fun to be back with all my friends there and we definitely need the moola. Gotta say though, I don't miss prom season at the Roof. It's insane.

Easter!

Okay, so I've gone a little picture crazy since we've gotten our new camera. But here's an update of whats been shaking here. We had a very fun Easter at the Schick cabin. First we started the day coloring Easter eggs, which we then ate for lunch. Mmmmmm!

We had a big Easter egg hunt in the basement. Notice the color of Josh's eggs. Whenever he'd see a pink egg he's say "Rach there's an egg over here for you." He wouldn't pick up any eggs that weren't blue, yellow or green. What a silly boy.

And here's what we've all been waiting for! Kate's big smiles. Amazingly enough this was only the second picture I took of Kate with the new camera and she was all smiles. What a cutie.

Here's Kate with her Grandma Schick. I think they like each other.

Here's her silly little watermelon outfit. She finally fits into clothes, not just jammies.

Here's a little bit of our wonderful Easter dinner. Rach is definitely a carnivore.

Here's what we did the rest of the day. Yeah, we almost got a foot of snow while we were there! It was insane and very cold. It definitely didn't feel like April but we still had fun.

My cute boys. Josh wants to be just like his dad. I hope he does because he'll be the best boy ever.

I think he got some snow on his neck, what do you think?

Don't even think about it missy......

Bah!!
It was a very fun Easter and I'm so glad we have our camera! I had to take Kate to Primary Children's today to get an ultrasound of her kidneys. When I was pregnant they found some fluid in her kidneys so I had to keep going back for ultrasounds. They wanted to check it out once she got here. I have to say they weren't too helpful. They said there's still a little bit of fluid in the left kidney but they'd have to do more tests to determine if it's going to be a problem. I thought this was the test to see if there was a problem! Well, they didn't seem too concerned but it will have to be something we look out for in the future. She's growing so fast and I love her so much! I'm glad it's nothing too serious.

Death of a camera

So our camera officially died a week and a half ago. We're supposed to get our new one today. I've been going crazy because Kate has officially started doing the really big smiles and I haven't been able to capture it yet! (not that I would be able to even if the camera was working, but it's the principle of it all). So here's what happened about 2 weeks ago around the Maughan household......

Trav had a birthday! I love that boy so much and feel so blessed that my kids have him as their dad. They are the luckiest kids in the world! To celebrate we actually went on a date (I know it's a miracle).....dinner and a movie. We finally got to see Avatar. Not as good as I was expecting, but entertaining enough. Here's the sign we decorated for him.

We were getting ready to go to church a couple weeks ago and the kids were in the yard. We captured a few shots of them. They look so cute all dressed up, and Trav has cleared a lot of the dead branches out of our yard, so it's looking lots better. We still have a lot of work to do though!

We had a fun St. Patty's day. Here's my little Irish boy with our green dinner, complete with green eggs, green pancakes and green punch. They loved it.

This is what Kate thinks aboug getting all dressed up for church. Yeah, "dressed up" for us is putting a bow in her hair. This is why I don't do it more often.

Our cute neighbor invited us over to their house for an Easter Egg hunt and they have a fun playhouse in their yard. I thought this was a cute one of Josh. He always looks like he's up to something, doesn't he?

Well, things are going really well for us. I hope we can post new pictures of smiley Kate soon. Trav even finally got a calling in the new ward.....are you ready? He's the new librarian! I think that would be fun but he's not too sure about it yet. He'll start the week after conference, which is also the day we are blessing sweet Kate. Happy Easter!
