Schick Reunion 2019

Our Schick reunion was 1 week after our Maughan reunion. So we had both reunions the first 2 weeks of summer! For this reunion we went to Pine Valley, Utah. On the way down we were lucky enough to stop for lunch at the same time as Aimee at good old Arby.'s
The next day was our historical touring part of the trip.  We have some family roots down in that part of the state that Heather was so nice to research for us and tell us about. We started off in the Pinto cemetery. (And I know I'm missing the pictures from here so I'll have to investigate to see where they ended up.)

We drove through New Castle where the roosters say "cut cut cutduckit"

And then we went  to Old Iron town. It was all pretty cool!

We also made a stop at the Mountain Meadow Massacre sight which was such a tragic time in history.

We had the intention of going to the Pine valley reservoir for swimming and fishing. When we got there all suited up there was a sign that said "fishing only." We had no idea you couldn't swim there! And it was a lot smaller than we thought it would be. Not really what I imagined for our beach day. The kids still did wade a little bit, but we pulled out the fishing poles just in case too.

 Trav using Will's  pole...

Trav was the only one that caught one, but it was beautiful!

It was back to the cabin for a night of Rock Band.
I loved our evening walks. The lizards were huge. There were turkeys and deer everywhere. It really was a gorgeous valley.

Kate and Trav did their morning hikes too and made it to the top of a peak.
The next day we went on a tour of the Pine Valley chapel which is the oldest running LDS church.

Then we made our way to Gunlock, which I had never heard of before. I'm so glad my sister suggested it because it ended up being one of the highlights of the trip. It's this reservoir that every 10 years or so overflows to make these amazing waterfalls.
 It was so gorgeous!

The waterfalls were rushing like crazy and a little scary. Someone had actually died there a few weeks before.

We hiked up a trail to the top of the waterfalls and it was so much safer, and still so cool, to play in.

It was almost like tide pools

It was so fun and so pretty I wasn't ready to leave. But we did head down to St. George to eat our picnic dinners and gigantic ice cream at the splash pad.

Then we did a quick hike to Jenny's slot canyon.

Then time to play in the sand dunes!

 The sunset was amazing!
"Look! The moon's out!" -Will (as the only cloud in the sky is covering the moon)
The next day it was time to clean up and head home. We stopped to see the Parowan hieroglyphs on the way back.

And the dinosaur tracks that were kind of hard to see...
We ate lunch in this little Mexican restaurant.
 Jonah winking...
Then we got back in the car, cranked up Michael Vey and drove home. It was a great trip!!
