Goblin Valley!!!

Okay, so these pictures actually did the reverse order of how I wanted them.  Oh well!  I'll just roll with the punches.  So I guess to start with this...Here's a picture of "the fab 5."  We finally ALL live in Utah again!  This in and of itself is a miracle.  We have all been buddies since 4th grade...some of us even sooner (but I think 4th is when we became a group).  I love these girls and it was so fun catching up with them all. The restaurant finally had to kick us out (sorry Spaghetti Factory employees, I totally know how annoying that is.  I used to be a server too) The funny thing is, we all really look about the same as we did in high school despite having 19 1/2 kids between us. Wow!  So fun!

Oh Josh!  Trav says that Gollum has more teeth than him.  I think he might be right.  He is losing teeth left and right!  So cute though!  I love toothless smiles.
And some very sad news....Rachel's best buddy, Monique moved away last week.  This is seriously a total bummer.  Monique just moved here in December and these two really hit it off and have become best friends.  With her dad's job and unable to find anything around here and them deciding they wanted to be closer to family again, they moved back to California.  We are so sad to see her go!  We were able to have their family over for dinner one last time and I snapped a couple pictures of the girls.  They are cute.  We will miss you Monique!

Josh is also a man of many talents.  He has finally (after much practice) mastered the art of
arm farting. He is very pleased.

Okay, NOW I can finally talk about Goblin Valley!  We've been wanting to take the kids  there because we knew they would LOVE it.  We haven't been there in years, and definitely not with the kids. So we pulled them out of school for 2 days and headed south.  It was awesome!  We were able to stop in and visit Trav's brother in Richfield on the way down which was cool, but then we didn't arrive to the campsite until like 8:00 pm.  We still needed to set up camp and cook and eat dinner.  It was a late start, but it worked out okay.

Well, again these pictures aren't in the right order, but oh well.  We started out by going on a hike up Little Wild Horse Canyon.  That is such a fun hike!  But these pictures are from playing in the goblins.  The kids had SO much fun running, climbing, jumping, playing tag and hide and seek.  Rachel even said, "This is so much more fun that Disneyland AND Lagoon!"  I think we'll have to go back again!

William finally passed out.  Poor boy, we just kept dragging him around.

They would climb in every little cave and crevasse they could find.  I remember doing that when I was a kid.
Josh on the stumpiest little goblin.  Ha ha!

I told them to go stand in the "dips" and they both totally did the same pose.  I didn't even ask them to.

I know it looks warm in the pictures but it was actually pretty cold and SOOO windy.  That kind of put a damper on everything.  Kate really couldn't handle the wind so there were lots of meltdowns.
This is one of them......she refused to move or look up because the wind was going to get her.
 Our family shot.....
I did catch her a few times having fun!

Here we are back at camp.  Josh and Kate spent a long time catching fire ants. Josh was actually disappointed that he couldn't bring them home in a plastic cup (with no lid, I might add) to have an ant farm.  I don't want those suckers anywhere near my house, thank you.
Oh, back in the goblins....William didn't love the wind either.  But we're sure glad we had Aunt Aimee's minion hat!

Here's out camp.  Not a lot of vegetation there, but so so pretty.  I love these rocks.

Oh!  I was there too.  Surprise!

Okay, this is now on our hike up Little Wild Horse.  Chillin' on a couch rock.

It's hard to tell from the picture but it was a tight squeeze in some spots.  The baby backpack just barely fit through the "slot."  Suck in, William!!

Rach has been practicing climbing up the slots for like a month now.  She'd shimmy up the doorways so she'd be ready when we got there.  She was climbing up the walls like crazy!

There were a few parts where there was water still there.  This one looked really gross and was at the beginning. Thankfully, we could avoid it and climb up and over so we didn't have to wade.  We hiked as far as we could but then there was a certain spot where you had to wade (for a really long time) We decided to turn around since the college kids that were going through it said it was freezing cold and went up to their waists.  I didn't want to have to carry all my kids through that!  But we got to hike a long way still, it wasn't until like that last slot we would have gone in, so it was all good!

This one is back at camp playing around.  We barely got the tent folded up to come home.  In fact, our "neighbor"  (who actually was from Kaysville and their kids go to Columbia wierdly enough) had to come help because every time we'd almost have it folded up a big gust of wind would come and blow the tent, tarp and tons of sand on everything.  William and Kate were both screaming.  It was quite a sight.  Thankfully we had nice neighbors and were able to get it done.

It seriously was such a fun trip despite the wind. We can't wait to go back again! Happy day.
