Sweet Kate

Well, we've had a lot going on the past couple of weeks. Kate is growing so fast and getting so tricky. We pulled out the Boppie yesterday to see how she'd do. I think Josh likes sitting in it more than Kate does, but we did get a picture of her in it with a helpful brother and sister.

This past Friday I went to the Renaissance Festival with my mom and sister. It was actually really cool. We had to cut our time there short because if anyone was outside at all on Friday I'm sure you saw those black clouds creeping across the sky. Luckily we were safely in the car by the time that hit. Here's Josh with capitan Jack Sparrow. He thought it was very cool to hold the gun.

They also got to go on a horse ride which I think was the highlight of the day.

They even had real jousting! It was really neat to see them in their armor garb. They didn't knock each other off the horses but their sticks would break.

I think Kate loves her big sister, how about you?

These two are so silly and are always causing some kind of trouble.

And here is my mother's day photo......Rachel's sticking out her tongue, Kate's about to fall on the ground and Josh is pouting. This really shows what motherhood is all about. Hey, at least they're all dressed.

Lately Josh has been requesting a mowhawk after his bath. He told me the other day he wanted a mowhawk for Christmas.

And as for our other news.....a few weeks ago we noticed a little bump next to Kate's eye. We thought it was a mosquito bite, but it didn't go away and turned purple like bruise after about a week and a half. We took her to the doctor, but she wasn't sure what it was so she referred us to an eye doctor at Primary Children's. After a trip to Primary's they said it was a capillary hemageonia (or something like that). Pretty much some capillaries are bunched together and cause "birthmarks" on kids. They don't know what causes it (especially since it didn't show up for a few months) and they typically go away on their own within 5-10 years. They are concerned because it is so close to her eye that it might affect her vision development. Right now her vision is great but we're going to have to keep a watch on it and have many more trips to Primary's, including this week we have to get an MRI to make sure everything else is okay. If it grows too big we might have to get her special glasses, an eyepatch, or even have it surgically removed. We're hoping and praying that it won't have to get to this so please remember Kate in your prayers. Despite these health concerns we keep having with her she is such a good and happy baby. We feel so blessed everyday that she is in our lives. We're also so grateful that this is something that will go away and she can have perfect vision if we keep a watch on it.
Isn't that the sweetest little face?

  1. I love all the new pictures. So glad you finally have a blog! Brienna has a capillary hemangioma on her cheek that gets really red in the winter then gets lighter and smaller in the summer. It doesn't appear to be going away on it's own, but it hasn't bothered her. We call it her special spot and when a doctor said a dermatologist could easily remove it if she wants, she said not right now. I hope Kate's doesn't cause any problems for her.

  2. Well, at least you know what's going on with Kate's eye. Maybe we'll see each other at the eye appointments.

Love the Mother's Day Picture. I have few pics with the twins smiling at the camera at the same time. That's where photo shop comes in! Love ya!
