sum sum summertime!

Oh man! Here we go again. Here's the haps of the last month at the Maughan's. First of all we had this weird fog that Trav took a picture of. I thought it looked "eerily cool" of the park across the street.
And Kate wore her superman costume for about 3 days straight....Yep, wore it, slept in it, wore it again, slept in it again. I finally had to peel it off so her skin could breathe.

She wasn't shy to posing for a few pictures at Joshy's baseball games.
And baseball is officially over. It was fun to watch those cute boys. Josh was playing first base in this picture and he was in his own little world pretend throwing and catching and really not paying attention to the game.

 Here's his cute team.
And my Rachel girl turned 9! Holy cow!! She had a great birthday though. It fell on a Saturday this year which is always fun to have daddy around all day. She requested breakfast in bed...
Then once she was up she opened her presents....
 She asked for a skateboard.

An electric toothbrush. I'm hoping brushing her teeth won't be such a battle anymore.
Strider had fun at the party.
And I think Will liked the skateboard most of all....
Then she had a friend birthday party! Fun to have it happen on the big day. We started off by playing Red Rover which Rachel had informed me that she had never played before.  What?!? So I insisted it be on the schedule for the party. Several kids said they had never played it before. What has happened to public education?

Then they played the game where you're all tied in a knot and have to untie yourselves without letting go of hands.

Then it was off to tie dye shirts. It was really fun and the shirts all turned out great.

Back inside to open more presents...
And back outside for birthday cake!

We ended the party with one of our favorites....drip, drip drench.

Here's the stash she got. Spoiled rotten!
Then that night (of her birthday) we got together with ALL the Maughan's to get some good pictures with grandpa. We got a ton of pictures with everyone (which hasn't happened in a really long time) but for some reason I couldn't open the file today so there are some of the pictures we got with our camera. We wanted some shots of the kids too while they were semi-dressed up.
Here's one with all the grandkids (we're only missing Sam and Caleb who are on missions, Cody, who was in Yellowstone, and Amanda, who lives in Georgia.)

You've got something in your nose, Josh. Ha ha!

Man, I've got cute kids! And here's one with our family with grandpa and grandma.
 Aww, the couple shot....

I do regret not getting just a family shot of our little family. Oh well. I'm SO glad we did this though. Grandpa has really taken a turn for the worse in the past couple weeks so it's a miracle that we were able to get so many cute pictures with him. We love him so much. And I had to take this picture of grandma and grandpa still holding hands after all this time together.
And of course since it was still Rachel's birthday we had to have cupcakes and sing to her!
Here's Rachel's tie dye shirt (and the outfit she chose to wear with it.) Yes, she went out into public.
This summer my kids have taken an interest in cooking so once a week Rachel makes dinner for us! It has been awesome! She's made quiche, chicken Alfredo, tuna on toast, lasagna and lots of other things that I can't think of right now. Unfortunately I haven't taken a picture of her making anything! But Josh also requested to make dinner one night and I did get a picture of him. He made meatball sandwiches (Mmmm) and he's preparing the salad in the picture. I love this!

And Trav finished the front entry tile! It looks AMAZING! It was a lot of work for him but I love it! I love to see progress with some projects around the house.

We also finished reading the Book of Mormon as a family. Our tradition is once we finish the book of Mormon everyone gets a giant cookie. The tradition is still alive. Josh was trying to dunk it......didn't work.

We were playing outside and William spotted some water in the gutter.  He went straight for it and had a great time.
And last but not least, we were able to have our Schick cousins over for the day(minus the Shelton's)! We had lunch, played in the stream, and everyone wanted to play in the sandbox....at the same time. It was a very fun day!

So far so good. I'm loving this summer stuff!
